General ElShahawy worked in the Giza Security Directorate from July 1998 till Dec 2004, Administrative Control Authority from Jan 2004 till Jan 2005, National Security Agency from Jan 2005 till Jan 2011, at Cairo International Airport from Jan 2011 till July 2011, and finally at the Money Laundering Bureau- General Administration of Public Funds Investigation Department from August 2011 till Feb 2012. Following that, he worked at Etisalat Misr from May 2012 till August 2017 as Government Affairs Senior Manager, followed by Telecom Egypt as Legal, Government Affairs, Public Policy & Regulatory Senior Director from September 2017 till May 2019, and then Mohamed transferred to the health sector through his work as Regional Legal, Government Affairs, Administration & Security Director from May to August 2019 at Andalusia Group for Medical Services.

Since 2004, Amany has been actively involved with the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry, working closely with various regulatory authorities, investors, and business development organizations.
